Radiofrequency Microneedle (RFM)
Utilising microneedles to puncture the skin’s surface can help to improve a variety of different indications such as scars and wrinkles and helps to improve the overall appearance and rejuvenation of skin. Radiofrequency (RF) induces thermal trauma to stimulate neocollagenesis in deep layers of the skin, creating stronger, firmer skin to help with concerns such as wrinkles and laxity. Combine Radiofrequency & Microneedling (RFM) together and you have a dual effect on the tissue for a whole host of textural and ageing concerns such as acne scars, skin laxity, stretch marks, open pores, and wrinkles.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is microneedling effective for hair loss?
Microneedling is known for its benefits to the skin and skin cell regeneration and the treatment is becoming increasingly popular for hair loss. Research has shown that Microneedling on the scalp helps stimulate stem cells within the hair follicles which can lead to hair growth (1). Read More about Microneedling for Hair Loss.
What is the difference between insulated and non-insulated needles?
Insulated microneedles have a layer of insulation around them, allowing heat to only be emitted from the tip. Heating only the lower layers of the skin, protecting the epidermis. These needles allow cheaper treatments and also for safer treatment in individuals with darker skin types (4-6 on the Fitzpatrick scale), who are at higher risk of hyperpigmentation following treatment.
Non-insulated microneedles are active along the entire length and cause high volumetric heating, offering enhanced results, reduced infection, faster healing, and safer treatments. Treatments with non-insulated needles carry the advantages for shorter procedure time, less trauma, and less downtime
With Focus Dual® you now have the ability to customise the needle to the patient’s skin type and concern. See here for insulated vs non-insulated micro-needling treatment to further your understanding
How long does it take to see results from Microneedling?
Some clients feel a difference in the elasticity of their skin in as little as 24 hours. However, the long-lasting results will be seen between 4-6 weeks post-treatment as this is the time frame in which it takes the body to produce new healthy collagen and elastin.
Can Radiofrequency Microneedling (RFM) be used on all patients of all ages?
Patients with laxity concerns can benefit from the dual effect of the Microneedling with Radiofrequency. As the Focus Dual offers many different needle depths and intensity settings for the RF, treatments can be easily customised to every different skin.
Younger skins who do not yet require lifting and tightening can benefit from Microneedling without the RF to focus on refining pores, evening out texture, and improving overall quality.
How does Radiofrequency Microneedling (RFM) compare to Injectables such as HA Fillers?
Radiofrequency Microneedle (RFM) is a great treatment to combine with Injectables to give your clients all-over fantastic skin quality.
Following an RFM treatment, your clients’ skin will gradually smooth out, improve in quality, and tighten. Fresh new collagen and elastin is produced, adding nothing artificial.
Patients love how natural their skin looks as the results get better and better over time.
How does Radiofrequency Microneedling work?
Ultrafine needles penetrate the skin at different depths and release radiofrequency energy to heat the skin in a controlled manner, stimulating a wound healing response leading to the production of collagen and elastin.
What are the benefits of combining RF with Microneedling?
Practitioners have observed much quicker treatment results combining both RF and Microneedling compared to one technology alone depending on the device used. In cases such as severe acne results can be achieved in half the time versus standalone technologies, increasing patient satisfaction dramatically.
