Highly Effective IPL Treatments
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is flashlamp-driven technology. An intensely bright light is achieved by passing an electric current through a flashlamp. A mirror behind the flashlamp redirects the light directly onto the skin to create a photothermal effect in the tissue.
Unlike a Laser, IPL devices submit light in all directions and include a whole range of different wavelengths. Different wavelengths are used to treat different conditions. Filters can be used to tweak which wavelengths we want to let through to use on the skin, and which wavelengths we want to remove. This is a key reason why IPL can be very versatile.
Most IPLs use wavelengths between approximately 550-1100nm. Longer wavelengths are used for hair removal, vessels, and most skin rejuvenation treatments.

Lynton IPL machines were developed using Dynamic Reflex Technology. This makes them some of the most effective IPL machines on the market. Lynton IPL technology is highly regarded by many Dermatologists and private aesthetic practitioners in the NHS.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the Treatment Applications?
ACNE, ROSACEA, SUN DAMAGE, AGE PIGMENTATION SPOTS, THREAD VEINS, BIRTHMARKS, FINE LINES
Is it painful?
Plexus has inbuilt contact skin cooling to make the treatment more comfortable, however you will feel a snapping sensation on the skin for a second as the light pulses penetrate the skin surface.
How does it work?
Plexus offers a unique multi wavelength protocol for total skin rejuvenation. Each session uses two different wavelengths and 2-3 passes on the skin to target vascular and pigmented lesions. This can lighten the skin tone, removing unwanted blemishes and leave the skin with a more natural youthful appearance. Over time lines and wrinkles will soften due to the stimulation of new collagen in the skin. 3-5 sessions are recommended 4 weeks apart.
How many treatments are required?
This depends on the type, size and location of the unwanted blemish. Facial thread veins and sun spots tend to be clear in one of two sessions. Deeper or more extensive lesions may require 3-5 sessions 4 weeks apart.
What is the treatment procedure?
A complete skin consultation is conducted prior to treatment to advise you on the most appropriate protocol to achieve the desired result. This may incorporate home use skincare and daily SPF protection. We can then provide you with a cost for your personalised protocol.
Are there any side effects?
Treatment is very safe, you can expect some redness post treatment for a short period and as the pigmented lesions move to the surface they will appear much darker for a number of days until they flake off the surface leaving he skin temporarily pink. After a couple of weeks the skin will be restored to a more even and youthful skin tone.
